Life+Gear was initially established to address the market demand for emergency preparedness products in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. After its initial success in personal consumer “safety packs”; Life+Gear entered the new and growing market for LED flashlights by incorporating patented features into its unique designs. Life+Gear went on to create a line of camping accessories and a unique fire safety technology that has been embedded into a line of fire safety nightlights.
After a series of growth equity investments backing Life+Gear’s original founders, an interim management team was installed by G2 to drive profitability. The interim management team was engaged to manage pricing with clients, enhance sourcing from China, and stabilize the business with a headcount reduction. These restructuring initiatives have proven Life+Gear’s profit and growth potential by refining Life+Gear’s product strategy and dramatically improving the company’s operational capabilities.
G2 served as the exclusive sell-side advisor to Life+Gear, responsible for running a robust, hands-on sale process, which ultimately resulted in a sale to a high-net-worth individual as the ideal equity partner for the business to assist in pushing forward its growth strategy.
The transaction was successfully executed through a sale to a high-net-worth individual.
