ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Copperweld Bimetallics, LLC (“Copperweld”) is a leader in the bimetallic industry and the only onshore U.S. manufacturer and supplier of copper clad aluminum wire. Copperweld’s products are well-positioned based on material characteristics and cost advantages to take market share from traditional copper wire products. Copperweld serves more than 225 customers – including major European original equipment manufacturers – and produces upward of 32MM pounds of product each year.
SITUATION:
Under previous ownership, the Company encountered challenges integrating its manufacturing assets and distributor sales channels. In 2016, ownership of Copperweld was transferred to affiliates of THL Credit (“THL”). G2 was engaged to develop and execute a revitalization plan, and replaced the existing advisor working with the Company.
ENGAGEMENT:
After successfully revitalizing Copperweld, G2 served as the exclusive sell-side advisor – leading a robust and highly tailored process, which ultimately resulted in identifying Kinderhook Industries, LLC (“Kinderhook”) as the ideal equity partner for the business to assist in pushing forward its growth strategy.
OUTCOME:
The transaction was successfully consummated through a sale to Kinderhook, a large private equity firm specializing in buyouts and growth capital investments across the industrials and manufacturing sectors. The details and terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
