ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Avatas Payment Solutions (“Avatas”) is a leader in payment processing services for retail energy dealers across the U.S. and Canada. Avatas’ unique combination of industry focused information systems, customer service, analytical account management, and a proven value proposition for substantial cost savings has propelled them to a dominant market position in this segment.
SITUATION:
Avatas was a successful, rapidly growing private company owned and managed by its founders. The executive team sought to partner with a larger firm that would provide additional resources and complementary skills to help fuel additional growth.
ENGAGEMENT:
In late 2011, G2 was engaged as the exclusive sell-side advisor responsible for running an expeditious, targeted, and high-touch sale process while evaluating other strategic alternatives and options. The Avatas opportunity generated interest from both the private equity community as well as several strategics within the payment processing industry.
OUTCOME:
The transaction was successfully executed in 2012 with a sale to Merchant Warehouse, an industry leader in developing and delivering award-winning and innovative payment processing solutions and merchant account services to developers and ISVs which had recently completed a recapitalization from Parthenon Capital. AVATAS will continue to operate independently of Merchant Warehouse.
