Jim is the Managing Director and Practice Leader for G2’s Aerospace, Defense and Security industry group, leveraging an extensive career that has merged operational management, banking and finance, leadership at the US Department of Defense and 30 years of uniformed service, including two combat tours in Iraq.
Jim has been involved in value creation throughout his career: starting in commercial banking, he moved into investment management where he helped to restructure and spin out investment operations from a major insurance company. He then joined an early stage telecommunications company where he built and managed operations throughout Asia. Following that, he joined Genuity, a major international telecommunications company, where he held senior roles in product development and corporate development. Upon returning from active duty tours in Iraq, he founded his own international business advisory company, Phoenix Global Services, focused on helping companies in emerging markets expand their operations. He also served as a civilian executive at the Department of Defense leading the Task Force for Business and Stability Operations, helping to create private sector business opportunities in Afghanistan. In his 30-year military career, he held leadership positions up to the brigade level and retired at the rank of Colonel.
Jim earned a BA in Economics at Dartmouth College where he also earned his MBA at the Amos Tuck School.
Jim is the Treasurer and Board Member of SOLA, a rapidly growing school for girls in Afghanistan and is also on the board of the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce.
Jim lives in Millis, Massachusetts with his wife Ellen and their two Great Pyrenees dogs. His four children are spread across the globe chasing their dreams.
Jim has earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
